OUR STORY
There is a moment every parent recognises. You are at the beach, or by the pool, and you realise just how vulnerable your child's skin really is. For babies under six months, sunscreen is not yet an option. For toddlers, reapplication is a constant battle.
MIKOU was created to close a gap. Not with a compromise, but with a swimsuit that parents could genuinely feel confident in: one that protects fully, fits beautifully, and lasts.
PROTECTION TESTED, THREE TIMES OVER
We believe that baby skin only deserves the best. This is why we source our fabrics from world leader Italian CARVICO to make sure your baby is safe from the sun and comfortable.
Our fabrics are independently tested against three international standards: AS 4399:2020, EN 13758-1:2007, and AATCC TM183:2020 to ensure they block 98% of harmful UV radiation.
Our swimsuits are designed to cover from neck to ankle. Full coverage, with intention. Every centimetre of fabric is there because partial protection is not something we are comfortable with.
DESIGNED FOR THE WAY FAMILIES ACTUALLY LIVE
Good design solves problems quietly. The snap-button opening at the nappy line exists because we know what it is like to change a baby in a wet swimsuit, and we wanted to make it simple. The snag-free zip is there because busy parents need an efficient fastening. The fabric is lightweight and quick-drying, because no child wants to sit in something heavy and cold after a swim.
These are not features we added to a list. They are solutions that came from living the same days you live: poolside, seaside, with small children who never stop moving.
MADE WITH CARE, AT EVERY STAGE
Our UPF50+ Swimwear are made from OEKO TEX-certified recycled Italian fabrics, sourced from GRS-certified mills. Tested for harmful substances, and safe against your baby's skin.
We manufacture in a certified Portuguese atelier, a family-run workshop where quality is personal. We chose to produce in Portugal because proximity matters to us: shorter supply chains, closer relationships with the people who craft our products, and the ability to oversee every detail.
We do not claim to have all the answers. But we are committed to making thoughtful choices, from raw material to your doorstep.
